Around the world on a cruising catamaran (departure from Genoa, Italy in October 2006)
The announcement of the first tour around the world organized for catamarans only, made at the 46° International Boat Show in Genoa, was given an enthusiastic reception by owners, skippers and also the media. Everyone was very pleased by the idea of an easy journey with enough time to discover new places and different cultures, relax and also to keep the boat in order.
The captain of the tour will be an expert skipper with extensive ocean navigation experience. He will always be available for a technical advice whenever necessary.
Group navigation offers many advantages: safety, possibility to compare navigation techniques, exchange information and opinions on equipment, good company and discouragement against intruders, to cite just a few.
A doctor will always be present in the group so that problems can be solved as soon as they arise.
Participants will have to fill in and complete a detailed form listing the boat’s equipment. Catamaran Center will guarantee a continuous assistance throughout the entire journey, in order to organize with suppliers repair solutions or material to be sent from Europe.
The owner/skipper will be able to choose whether to be always on board or to leave the boat for certain periods of time. In that case, a professional crew chosen by Catamaran Center will take his place. It will also be possible to put the boat in charter. Catamaran Center will be in charge of organizing the charter according to the owner’s needs and wishes.
Communications with Catamaran Center will be possible via satellite telephones and SSB radios connected with Pactor Modems.
Different suppliers of nautical equipment are ready to offer material at a very good price.
As soon as possible, rules and regulations will be published, with the entry and participation conditions, the requirements for the catamarans, the equipment, the insurances required by law, etc.
Subscriptions will be closed by March 2007 so that boats can be prepared for the summer and sail for the final sea trials before departure.

Departure from Italy after the 2007 Genoa International Boat Show to Gibraltar, the Canaries, arrival in the Caribbean in December.

Three months to discover the Caribbean, the northern coast of Venezuela, San Blas and Panama by end March 2008.

Las Perlas, Galapagos, Polynesia, Marquesas Islands, Tahiti, Islands of Raiatea, Cook Islands, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Australia ( Brisbane) by end of October 2008.

Technical stop period until : May 2009.

Then Darwin, Australia, and Bali, Cocos, Chagos, Seychelles, Madagascar, South Africa until November 2009. From Cape City set course for Brazil (Bahia), then Lesser Antilles, Greater Antilles, Florida, Bermudas and ahead for The Azores in April 2010 and return via Gibraltar in the summer.
